Fun Fact
In 1642, Cornelius Dircksen, a local farmer, started the first ferry between Peck Slip in Manhattan and what is now the corner of Front and Fulton Street. Passengers would call Dircksen out of his fields with a horn to ferry them across the river.

Make a difference - Volunteer with the Conservancy

There are any number of volunteer opportunities to help make Brooklyn Bridge Park grow.

Support our Public Programs and Special Events
The Conservancy needs dedicated volunteers to help us during our busy programming season.  Join our volunteer film committee or help out with one of our seining workshops.  Call 718-802-0603 for more information.

Join the Green Team
Active from April through October, Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm.  The Conservancy's Green Team provides critical care for our growing, and much used park.  Weekly sessions focus on new plantings, mulching, weeding, clearing beds and the shoreline. Spend a little time getting to know your neighbors while caring for the park. E-mail Kara Gilmour or call ahead 718-802-0603 x18 .    

Special Projects
The Conservancy seeks volunteers for special projects such as photography management, park campaigns, mailing lists updates and much more.  Let us know your special skills and we will try to match them with our needs.  Call 718-802-0603 for more information.
