Fun Fact
In 1795, the site of the present day Main Street playground was the landing site for the "New Ferry" to Catherine Street in Manhattan. The ferry was literally horse-powered, driven by wheels turned by horses walking in circles.

The Floating Pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach

What a summer!

The Floating Pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach, located off Pier 5 in the future Brooklyn Bridge Park, was open during the summer of 2007.

The pool and beach attracted over 71,000 guests from all five boroughs of New York City and from as far away as Japan and Finland. We hope you made it down to take a swim and relax on the beach.

The Floating Pool Lady has moved to Barretto Point Park, a five acre waterfront park in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx.  For more information, see www.nycgovparks.org

The Floating Pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach opened summer 2007 under the direction of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy in partnership with the pool’s creator, the Neptune Foundation, and is sponsored by The State of New York, through the Empire State Development Corporation, and the City of New York. Critical funding has been provided by New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilmember David Yassky and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Shuttle operations are provided by the Downtown Brooklyn Waterfront Local Development Corporation with funding by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez. Thank you to our operating partners American Leisure, MetroSoccer, Rice, and Equinox Fitness.
