SUMMARY:Catch-and-Release Fishing - October 4
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever gone fishing in NYC? Join Brooklyn Bridge Park staff to learn about the ecology of the East River as you participate in a free catch-and-release fishing lesson at the Pier 5 fishing stations (at the end of the pier). Presented in partnership with Maritime Youth Alliance.\nAll equipment will be provided; humane hooks will be used. This free fishing program runs for two hours, with each participant/group allowed to fish with the rod for 30 minutes. No experience needed – all equipment and supplies are provided.\nPer each 30-minute session, we will reserve 15 rods for preregistration booking. We will have extra rods available, but walk-up availability is not guaranteed. All participants must sign a waiver before participating.\nCheck back for registration.\nIf pre-registering, please make sure you and your party fill out the accompanying waiver to expedite check-in. Please arrive 10 minutes before your preregistered time slot to allow for timely waiver confirmation. If you are late for your time slot, we will not hold your reservation and we will open your slot up to walk-ups. You will be able to sign up for any walk-up spots on a first-come, first-serve basis.\nAccessibility Note: Please reach out to education@bbp.nyc for any accessibility needs or questions. This program takes place on flat cement terrain at the end of Pier 5. There are no shaded areas or seating provided; expect full sun. The closest restrooms are located on Pier 6 by Fornino’s, about 1056 feet away.
