WHAT: Fulfilling Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s vision for turning a neglected strip of waterfront into a verdant public space over 35 years ago, Brooklyn Bridge Park has provided New York City with an extraordinary place to play, learn, connect, and be inspired. The Conservancy works in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation to produce over 500 free and low cost arts and culture, environmental education, and recreation events each season. Their annual Brooklyn Black Tie Ball is a driving benefit, with nearly 600 attendees celebrating the Conservancy’s cause on Thursday, October 6. This year’s Ball raised $1.4M, directly supporting the Conservancy’s public programs, bringing joy, wonder, and exploration to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Events this season included the Conservancy’s signature outdoor film series Movies With A View, dance parties, live music, kayaking, Waterfront Workouts, book readings, stewardship opportunities, fishing clinics, environmental education programs for kids and families, and more. Providing a range of opportunities to connect, engage, and celebrate being back together, the diversity of events continues to expand into the 2023 season.
This year’s Ball honored Robert A. Levine, Founder & CEO of RAL Companies and Affiliates LLC, for his contributions to this special waterfront park, and work as an early champion of the vision for Brooklyn Bridge Park and what the original abandoned piers could become.
