Brooklyn Bridge Park

Overview

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, known as Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP), is the non‐profit organization that plans, builds, maintains, and operates Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 85‐acre sustainable waterfront park stretching 1.3 miles along Brooklyn’s East River shoreline.

Mission

To provide an exceptional public space that connects people, nature, and the waterfront through inclusive, innovative, and sustainable management and design.

Vision

To be a world-class park for all, recognized as a leader in sustainable financial and ecological practices contributing to a healthier and more livable city.

Governance

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Board of Directors comprises 17 Directors appointed by the Members of the Corporation on the nomination of the Mayor of the City of New York, the Governor of New York State, and local elected officials. Meetings of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Board of Directors are open to the public.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Community Advisory Council (CAC) is the primary forum through which the community can provide feedback and comments to the Corporation on its major initiatives and policies. Membership for the CAC was chosen in consultation with local elected officials.

Senior Leadership

Eric Landau

President

Eric Landau serves as President of Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation. Eric leads the ongoing success of the Park, oversees its daily operations, and fosters its long-term stability.

Eric previously served as a deputy commissioner at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) where he oversaw public affairs and communications. Prior to joining DEP, Eric was Vice President of Government and External Affairs and Special Assistant to the President for the Prospect Park Alliance, where he was responsible for building and strengthening Prospect Park’s public relations.

Eric holds a Master’s in Public Administration from The George Washington University and a B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Jeffrey Sandgrund

Chief Operating Officer

Jeffrey Sandgrund serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation. Jeffrey oversees the Park’s custodial, horticultural, and maintenance divisions as well as the capital program.

Jeffrey has been at Brooklyn Bridge Park for more than a decade, where he has held various positions overseeing park operations and care. Before joining Brooklyn Bridge Park, he served as the Director of Operations and Government Relations for Madison Square Park, and prior to that work spent a decade with the NYC Parks Department in numerous positions including Press Officer, Outreach Coordinator, Park Administrator and District Manager.

Jeffrey holds a Master’s in Public Policy from The New School and a Bachelors from Skidmore College.

Maura Lout

Chief People Officer

Maura Lout is the Chief People Officer at Brooklyn Bridge Park. She is a Social-Organizational Psychologist, with a specialization in change leadership, a Gallup Certified Global Strengths Coach, and a certified Dialogue Education Practitioner.

She has spent her career at iconic urban institutions leading strategic advancements, spurring transformations, and enabling capacity building with an ever-present personal goal in mind: ensuring organizations have the tools and strategies to facilitate honest, informed conversations that advance their abilities to meet their missions, ultimately promoting a more just and equitable world. She has guided dozens of organizations through change initiatives, solving “sticky” problems, and building organizational capacity in the process.

Previously, she spent a decade with the Central Park Conservancy’s Institute for Urban Parks. Under her leadership, the Institute became a renowned leader – supporting impactful, lasting stewardship of urban parks across the country.

Maura holds a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from The New School for Public Engagement and a Master’s in Socio-Organizational Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University.

Mary Taylor

Chief Advancement Officer

Mary Taylor serves as Acting Chief Advancement Officer, bringing deep expertise in building donor relationships and advancing mission-driven work through innovative fundraising strategies. She has led efforts in securing major gifts, managing annual giving campaigns, planning large-scale galas, developing boards, and fostering corporate and foundation partnerships across international, arts, and social service sectors. 

Previously Mary served as Director of Development at THE CITY, a nonprofit news organization; Chief Development and Communications Officer at the Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS), one of New York City’s leading social service agencies; Director of External Relations at Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization; and Chief Development and Communications Officer at Jericho Project, a nonprofit addressing homelessness in New York City. 

Mary holds a B.A. in Photography from Columbia College Chicago, an M.S. in Nonprofit Management from the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management at The New School, and a Certificate from Columbia Business School’s Institute for Nonprofit Management. 

Sarah Krauss

Chief of Staff & Vice President for Public Affairs

Sarah Krauss serves as Chief of Staff and Vice President for Public Affairs, focusing on organizational management and communications, government relations, and community affairs. Sarah is a communications and public affairs professional with 20 years of experience in government, philanthropy, and non-profit management.

Prior to joining BBP, Sarah was an Associate Director at The Rockefeller Foundation. With a long tenure in government, Sarah served as Chief of Staff and Communications Director at the NYC Department of Small Business Services, Communications Director for the New York City Public Advocate, and Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer. She also worked as a Senior Account Executive in the Public Affairs practice at Edelman, a global public relations firm.

Sarah holds Bachelor’s in American Studies from Wesleyan University and completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Amy Kleitman Lojek

General Counsel

Amy Kleitman Lojek serves as General Counsel of Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, providing legal advice, guidance, and representation on a broad range of issues to staff and the Board of Directors. She is also the Secretary of the Corporation.

Prior to joining BBP, Amy served as Deputy General Counsel at the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Before that, she was Senior Counsel at the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, where she was part of the legal team for 15 years.

Amy holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from the University of Maryland.

Lindsey Ross

Vice President for Capital Projects & Restoration

Lindsey serves as Vice President for Capital Projects & Restoration at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Lindsey oversees capital construction and maintenance projects in the park, as well as the facilities team. Prior to joining, Lindsey spent nearly three years in the publishing industry. Lindsey holds a Master’s of Urban Planning from the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Environmental Science from the University of Michigan.

Liz Verostek

Chief Financial Officer

Liz Verostek serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Brooklyn Bridge Park, overseeing financial strategy, while ensuring compliance, risk management, and long-term sustainability.

Liz has nearly two decades of experience in finance and operations, most recently serving as Director of Finance and Administration at The New York Climate Exchange. Before that, she spent over ten years at the NYCEDC, serving as Deputy CFO. Liz has also held roles in city government, research, and higher education, including positions at the NYC DOE, NYC OMB, RFCUNY, RAND CAE, and the World Bank Institute.

Liz holds a Master’s from George Washington University, and BS and BA degrees from the College of Charleston.
