Staff Profile: Stacy-Ann Thompson

August 3, 2026

Stacy-Ann Thompson is a custodian on the Operations team at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Having worked here for over two years, Stacy-Ann has spent a lot of time on the Park’s grounds, on regular days as well as during events.

While the winter can drag on a bit, Stacy-Ann said her favorite time to do her job is during the summer, because she loves to see people enjoying the Park that she and her team work so hard to maintain.

“Everybody comes together,” she said. “It’s better because we have more people out. The movie nights [Movies with a View] are good … all these things, they make us feel like we’re doing our job. When people compliment us, or in the bathroom say ‘Thank you for cleaning.’ It makes us feel like we’re doing something good.”

The Operations team is the largest team at Brooklyn Bridge Park, working adjusted hours to keep the Park running from 6 am to 1 am.

“We’re like family, we do hands on stuff and just do what we have to do,” she said.

While she knows her favorite time to be in the Park, she has a more difficult time narrowing down a favorite spot – when asked, she said “Piers 1 through 6.” So, if you’re thinking about visiting us, consider this a sign that you’re probably going to love the whole Park.

Before working at BBP, Stacy-Ann worked at the New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx, commuting long hours to get there and back. Her husband found out BBP was hiring a custodian, which was the same position she was in previously.

“He said, ‘I found the perfect job… don’t worry, you’re going to like it’,” she said. “Two weeks later, they called me for an interview, and here I am.”
