Do you feel like you need a moment of pause and a deeper connection with nature? Join us on the first Saturday of each month for a free nature journaling workshop, as part of our Peace In Nature series. The 90-minute workshop helps you start or expand your nature journaling practice, providing you with ecological context, thematic prompts and time to journal.
January’s theme is “Winter Phenology”. Learn about the science behind seasonal change as you use your senses to observe the wonders of winter. This workshop will be mixed indoor and outdoor to minimize time in the cold.
This series is intended for adults, but all are welcome. Materials are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, but we encourage you to bring your own materials and journals if you have them. This event is first come, first serve, with 20 total spots available. Advance registration encouraged but not required.
Accessibility Note: Please reach out to education@bbp.nyc for any accessibility needs or questions. The workshop will start indoors at the Environmental Education Center. The classroom has a low-pile carpet. Available seating options include stools and cushions on the rug. Bathrooms, with accessible stalls, are available in the building. In the Education Center, there is regular muted noise from trains above. Weather permitting, we will travel around 500 ft on asphalt paths to journaling locations nearby. Step stools, cushions, benches and boulders will be available for seating while outside. Outside noise ranges from subtle to loud.
