Sound & Color! Spring Festival at Brooklyn Bridge Park is a celebration of colors, culture, spring and unity. Expanding the Conservancy’s beloved Kite Festival, this year we’re adding music to our Colors throughout the Park! This event is free.
Watch your kite soar above the Manhattan skyline the one day of the year kite-flying is open to the public at Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 5. Join for kite-making workshops and be awed at the talent of expert flying instructors – and learn some tips! This family-friendly festival unites S.T.E.A.M concepts, the Caribbean’s rich history of kite-flying, and outdoor adventures. Launch your kites, enjoy live entertainment and music, and learn all about the science of flight through kite-flying activities and experiments.

PARTNERS & ACTIVITIES: ALL DAY!
In addition to public kite flying, join for arts and crafts, kite decorating, assembly, and flying instruction, and other family-friendly activities from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Pier 5! Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. Don’t miss our highlights:
- The Craft Pavilion hosted by Private Picassos: Drop in, assemble and decorate your kite!
- Nory STEM Robotics Workshop: Enjoy NORY STEM’s hands-on projects: young inventors will be thrilled as they build a motorized propeller project, learning about circuits and components, while older creators transform everyday objects into interactive computer controllers with our captivating robotics activities!
- Face Painting: Jolie Henna (Helen Ekladious) provides face painting on site! Due to high demand, designs will be limited to roughly 5 minute time limit, and be first come, first serve. A $5 donation is suggested per face painting, cash only.
- Bi-Lingual Birdies Sing-Along

KITE FLYING
We highly encourage families to celebrate their own kite-flying traditions as well as their heritage by bringing their own kites. Kites will also be for sale, alongside workshops to make kites in the Caribbean tradition.
- Join us at Pier 5 – the event kicks off at 11:00 AM and is free to attend!
- Bring your own kite – or purchase from a selection of kite kits when you arrive.
- Assemble Your Kite! Kite guru Charles Stewart of Let’s Fly Kites will help you get your kite assembled.
- Decorate your Kite! Private Picassos will host an Arts & Crafts Pavilion
- Fly Your Kite! Professional kite instructor Glenn Davison will provide his expertise – internationally known as a kite workshop leader, kite builder, kite designer, author, speaker, and kite flyer.
- Enjoy the Day! Explore our partner activities and live music throughout the Park, taking place all day!
