January 17 @ 10:00 am 11:45 am

Immerse yourself in the dramatic history and innovative design that forever changed the Brooklyn landscape. Join the Education department for an interactive lesson on the bridge’s history, followed by a walk on the bridge up to the Brooklyn tower as part of our Expert-Led Explorations series.

10:00–11:00 am: Interactive lesson on the history and engineering of the bridge, held indoors at the Environmental Education Center. The room has a total capacity of 35 attendees.
11:00-11:45 am: A guided walk onto the bridge, leaving from the Environmental Education Center and ending at the Brooklyn side tower.

This program is first come, first served with limited capacity for the indoor portion. Advanced registration is strongly recommended but does not guarantee a spot. Can’t attend the whole event? That’s alright! Come for the indoor lesson or the guided walk, or both! This program repeats on 1/25.

Accessibility Note: If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us at education@bbp.nyc. The first hour of the program is indoors with available seating options including stools and cushions on the rug. Bathrooms are available in the building. The guided walk onto the bridge includes an uphill, four and a half block (around 1,300 ft) journey to the bridge. There is a small staircase to access the bridge and once on you can expect there to be no shade, and a slight uphill incline on concrete and wooden flooring. The journey to the first bridge tower from the Education Center is around 3,170 ft.
