BROOKLYN, June 28, 2016—The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy (Conservancy) is pleased to announce the election of Sylvana Durrett to the organization’s Board of Directors. The election took place at the Conservancy’s June 28 Board meeting.
“We’re delighted to add Sylvana Durrett to the Conservancy board,” said board chairman Mark Baker. “Her professional expertise and industry connections, as well as her enthusiasm for the Park, will be a strong addition to the Conservancy team as we look to increase our support of Brooklyn Bridge Park in the years ahead.”
Sylvana is the Co-founder of Maisonette, an online marketplace for baby and child set to launch in early 2017. She began her career at Vogue Magazine 14 years ago as the Executive Assistant to Vogue Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director of Conde Nast Publications, Anna Wintour, quickly moved up the ranks to Accessories Editor and eventually took over as the Director of Special Projects, a post she occupied for the last 7 years. In this role, Sylvana oversaw events, digital video, and entertainment.
She produced the annual Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vogue’s latest feature documentary, The First Monday in May, and sat on the Business Advisory Committee of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund – a joint venture between the CFDA and Vogue that supports young emerging designers in the Fashion industry. During her time at Vogue, Sylvana cultivated meaningful relationships with leaders across all industries working closely with C-level executives at companies including Amazon, Google, Yahoo, American Express, Apple, Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, Fafetch and more.
Prior to Vogue, she graduated from Princeton University and now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and her two children, Henry and Grace. She is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Signature Theatre in New York City.
“I am delighted to join Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s esteemed Board of Directors,” said Sylvana Durrett. “I have long admired the Conservancy’s work to bring the Park’s many offerings to life through its thoughtful and vibrant programming. Since moving to the borough, the Park has been incredibly meaningful for me and my family and I am eager to support the Board, the Conservancy and the greater community in furthering this worthy mission.”
“It is a privilege to welcome Sylvana Durrett to our dedicated Board of Directors,” stated Nancy Webster Executive Director of Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “Her extensive work producing impeccable special events and commitment to the Conservancy’s mission make her a valuable addition to our fantastic team.”
