May 24th marks the 143rd birthday of the Brooklyn Bridge! Join us to learn the fascinating story of the Roebling family and the engineering behind it. Immerse yourself in the history of the bridge that transformed the New York landscape forever.
The event will begin indoors at the Environmental Education center where we have a maximum capacity of 35 attendees. Then we will walk on the bridge up to the Brooklyn tower.
Registration is currently full; please check back if we are able to accomodate more.
Accessibility Note: If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us at education@bbp.nyc. The first hour of the program is indoors with available seating options including stools and cushions on the rug. Bathrooms are available in the building. The guided walk onto the bridge includes an uphill, four and a half block (around 1,300 ft) journey to the bridge. There is a small staircase to access the bridge and once on you can expect there to be no shade, and a slight uphill incline on concrete and wooden flooring. The journey to the first bridge tower from the Education Center is around 3,170 ft.
