The Pier 1 Pavilion at Brooklyn Bridge Park serves as both a welcoming gateway and a central gathering space. As the Park grew in popularity, it became clear that the original design needed to evolve to better support public amenities and improve wayfinding. Working closely with architects and landscape architects, the new pavilion was thoughtfully designed to function as a more inviting entrance and a civic destination.
Located at the Park’s busiest entrance, the Pavilion sits atop a raised, landscaped area that’s easy to access via sloping paths and wide stairways. It provides restrooms, water fountains, shaded seating, and delicious offerings at Breads Bakery.
Photovoltaic shingles cover the roof of the Pavilion and will generate enough energy to power all of Pier 1. The project is targeting net zero for energy use, and is LEED Gold certified.
